High performance lime slurry
Published on by Terry Scheurman, President at Applied Specialties, Inc. in Technology
I am trying to uncover what value there is for an additive that essentially eliminates lime fouling/scaling in slakers and slurry systems that also improves lime performance or the market interest for a high solids (42%) low viscosity.

We have recently installed a high density lime slurry system. It has only been a few months but it is performing very well. The system runs at 35% solids. Testing shows that it is out performing our traditional system for softening and we do not have to do acid cleanings anymore.

To be able to apply the lime to the treatment, you have to be able to transport it, without having scaling shut down the line.

If you have ever had to clean out a lime slurry line you would understand the benefit of using a polymer dispersant to keep the insoluble components in a lime slurry from precipitating.
